• How to be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi -- great place to start. Lays a framework for what racism is and isn't, how it manifests itself in everyday life and in systems, and how we can move towards being antiracism.
• Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racists Ideas in America by Ibram X. Kendi (see also Stamped, an adapted version for young adults) -- deep dive into the history of race in America, tracing both the development of race as a concept and how racist ideas have evolved and been implemented throughout American history.
• Caste: The Origins of our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson -- reframes race in America around the language of caste, comparing the caste systems of India, the United States and Nazi Germany.
