Originally from Nebraska, Justin came to San Francisco in 2000 to pursue his passion for the culinary arts at the California Culinary Academy. He spent 17 years as a traveling chef residing in restaurants from the Washington D.C area, to downtown Seattle, and San Luis Obispo as Executive Chef of Novo restaurant. Addiction caught up with Justin, and over a three-year downward spiral, lost his career, family, and identity. Rehab brought Justin back to San Francisco, and after its completion, he continued his recovery journey in City Hope’s transitional 2-year sober-living residency program. Justin has returned to college to pursue a degree in social work and is obtaining certification as an Addiction Counselor. Although he is no longer working as a chef in the restaurant industry, his passion remains true to why he began cooking. Justin loves to provide a memorable experience for our guests with each meal and has found a way to give back to City Hope as our Program Chef.
