City Hope Community Center
CHALLENGE:
There is a lack of safe and sober community spaces for the residents of the Tenderloin, especially for our neighbors living in SRO (Single Room Occupancy) hotels or for our friends on the streets. The resulting isolation compounds issues of addiction and mental and physical illness.
SOLUTION:
City Hope Community Center gives our neighbors a safe and sacred space - a living room - where they can build community, foster healthy relationships, continue their recovery work and, most importantly, be surrounded by others who will encourage and support them in their goals. People are treasured in this space and therefore come to treasure the space themselves.
- SAFE SOBER SOCIAL - The City Hope Community Center provides a place for people to gather, share a meal and enter into a healthy and supportive community. Through movie and game nights, communal breakfasts and special events, we are building trust and relationships in our community.
- RECOVERY SUPPORT - In a neighborhood plagued by drug use, City Hope Community Center focuses on increasing connection to community and strengthening people’s sense of hope for the future. By offering mentorship programs and recovery support groups, we are helping men and women in recovery build that supportive community
- WELLNESS PROGRAMS - Self-care and self-expression are key to improved quality of life. The City Hope Community Center provides a welcoming space for creative development and opportunities for people to pursue healthier physical, emotional and spiritual choices.
